Aaannnnddd we're done here. When you run out of arguments, blame Ray. See you at the Tigue. Or not. I'll be there. It may be too inconvenient for you. And who would've thought, some extra work and sacrifice were all we needed to make that step into "big time" athletics.
Mardi Gras was probably part of the reason we get an SEC team to come and play a 3 game series at our place. We use to have a Mardi Gras tournament and the parade passed right by the Tigue. We drew some really good teams for that event. The fans all loved the festivities and it was cool to see everybody watching the Cajuns and wearing beads. I am sure the visiting teams had to be at least a little distracted which gave us a true homefield advantage. I can't wait for the weekend.
Thank you. It's who we are...it's the reason people see us on the schedule and can't wait to make the trip. Why put a bullet in the brain of our culture just because it inconveniences some people? If we didn't work our tails off with a smile on our face...it wouldn't be Cajun. Let's remember that before we turn into blank faceless yokels from the wrong side of the river.
I'll bet most SLI/USL/UL graduates and some non-graduates can figure out how to get to the Tigue this weekend in spite of Mardi Gras!
As a fan and an alumnus, I have been doing extra work and making sacrifices since 1973, including hundreds of hours of uncompensated volunteer work at the UL athletic facilities, season tickets in both football and basketball and RCAF membership at the All Cajun level, in the hope of someday seeing my University achieve 'big time' status, a status we have not yet reached largely because of the 'Ray' mentality of most of the people who are in a position to effect real positive change.
I won't be at the Tigue, because I am not a baseball fan; but I still don't think you should be inconvenienced for the benefit of the Mardi Gras association.
And yes, I am done with this thread.
Not being disrespectful, but you don't go to the baseball games but are complaining about the parking problems with baseball parking. I, and apparently a number of the folks who go to the game, don't have a problem with the parking for a single weekend THIS YEAR as it brings Alabama to play.
We typically make accommodations and don't play this weekend, but Tony has said multiple times it isn't an issue as he likes to play some early season weekends or tournaments away to get the guy accustomed to the road.
How will parking work for basketball? Do we need to get tickets early? I have seen all the get your tickets early talk for baseball but not basketball.
DAMN, get over yourself dude. Such negativity.
It's cool and all that you don't go to baseball games if you're not a fan of the sport... but come on, you're not going to try and catch at least 1 game this weekend with us being ranked in the TOP 10 IN THE COUNTRY, and playing an SEC opponent who is ALSO RANKED #21?
I'm not a fan of Softball, but you bet your azz I've made it out to the softball park to show my support on numerous occasions over the years.
To make all of this even funnier, is the fact that you are complaining about baseball parking when it's clear you never go. Your oppinion is pretty worthless when it comes to this subject because of that.
I'm not doubting your fandom or the contributions you say you've made to the program. But all your doing on this thread is spewing negativity and showing your azz.
