Due to expected capacity crowds and the Mardi Gras fair and parades, there will be limited baseball parking adjacent to M.L. "Tigue" Moore field for the three-game series with Alabama (Feb. 28-March 2). _

I am glad I read this article, now I know to go through the Bertrand Bordens Gate, and have my season tickets ready to show the officer so not to be charged a parking fee. Also leave extra early due to the Mardi Gras crowd also being there!!!
Just my two cents, but NO private organization ought to be allowed to use a UL facility in competition with UL Athletics.
Lafayette Mardi Gras should have been placed in the grass field north of Congress, or in the area between the Cajundome and Blackham, NOT in the Cajun Field Parking lot. Better yet, they should have been somewhere other than on University property.
Agreed VO, but unfortunately this is part of the price we pay for being a big, big Mardi Gras city. With the good, always comes the bad.
Also, the Mardi Gras parking issue may be a factor for the basketball games slated for the afternoon of Sunday March 2. Granted, many season ticket holders are RCAF members with Dome area parking passes. Those who want to attend that game but park at Cajun Field probably should get their basketball tickets early just as baseball fans are being urged to do. Hopefully this situation does not impact the basketball crowd as that will be senior day. That will be the last home game for Bryant Mbamalu and Elridge Moore. Those two guys have represented the university with nothing but class since they arrived here and deserve to have folks present to give them a nice sendoff.
The amount of money the Mardi Gras Association brings in for Cajun Field during Mardi Gras trumps any University event by leaps and bounds. It is held yearly...and has been the better part of several decades. This is not something brand new. I don't see why this is all of the sudden...a problem. You guys like to whine too much.
We purposely dont schedule to avoid Mardi Gras. They're not going to move Mardi Gras if they have an agreement with the school to schedule around it. This year is only an issue because this was the only weekend that Bama could come in. We had to get approval from Farmer to be able to play the series. It's not an issue except the rare years like this.
Also, what Hawk said
I like playing home games during Mardi Gras weekend, I think it adds to the baseball atmosphere. The visitors are probably excited by the baseball and Mardi Gras excitement. Just wish I could go.
Just excuse the hell out of me. I just happen to think that it is more important to cater to people who are on campus for UL athletics than it is to cater to the Lafayette Mardi Gras Association, or the Mid Winter Fair association, or the Lafayette Parish Automobile dealers association.
I guarantee you will not see any events like that on campus at ANY University that we want to be associated with on the same weekend that there is a University sporting event scheduled for the same venue.
It has nothing to do with whining. It has to do with getting your priorities straight.
