That's what it sounds like. All the grief those guys gave us years back when Andy Gros shoved it up their asses in a midweek game and now look who is returning the favor. I have no problem with it, coaches should coach to win games. If you have two tough midweek opponents sandwiched between two far inferior weekend series, why not? I wouldn't risk losing a weekend series to win a midweek game, but I think its fairly safe to say they shouldn't get as much competition from Virginia Tech, Toledo, Texas Southern or Yale the following weekend as they will from two stout lineups on consecutive Tuesday nights.
I'd throw Baranick at them on Tuesday then have the weekend look like: See if they B**tch at that
Friday: Aut
Sat: Milhorn
Sun: Boutte
Realistically though, we should go with Boutte/Plitt combo
Yeah, I'm not touching our weekend rotation for any midweek game. Robichaux, Baranik, Milhorn stay until it doesnt work
Boutte or Plitt or both work for midweek
I agree. Boutte is somewhat inconsistent and has his up and down games, but I will never forget how gutsy his performance against LSU in the regionals was last year after struggling mightily against Sam Houston. The guy is a competitor with sub par stuff, but I hope they give him another shot at the Tigers. I think if given the chance, he will pitch the best game of his life. Just a hunch.
And although I hate LSU as much as the majority of you on here, I have nothing but respect for coach Manieri. The guy is a class act and coaches the game the right way. Had he been coaching LSU in 2002 you would have never seen the disgusting display of bush-league baseball that led to the hiatus between the two teams.
Nope! You answered your own question. At the time he was not the Saturday starter, and even if he was it still wouldn't be bush-league. Not sure how much time you have spent in dugouts growing up but baseball is a funny game played by a strange set of "unwritten" rules. You can read about what constitutes bush-league baseball but the rules are not "official" rules. Just part of how the game is played.
Its not about throwing your best arms in midweek that is the issue, its about keeping pitchers on a routine because of arm care and arm recovery. These guys are on 7 day starting routines and even if you throw a weekend guy on a Tuesday, it would only be an inning or two of work to get ready for Friday. You have to keep the guys on routine, because of conference play.
