Bazar opens eyes by reaching 100

To add to what Brian wrote: Bazar pitched only 30 innings as a high school junior due to shoulder tendinitis. He then signed with the Cajuns in November of his senior year.

As for why he picked the Cajuns, here is what he said to the Killeen Daily Herald after signing: "When I took my visit, I fell in love with the school, the city, the food, the women ... (laughs) nah, but it's a gorgeous town with a rich history and to play there will be an honor," Bazar said.

Sounds like he's exactly what you want.

Very nice young man. He drives an old green pickup truck with out a/c. Not sure of the whole story, but I believe his dad wanted to have the a/c fixed in the truck and he said no.

In speaking with his Dad after the game, none of the Texas schools recruited him ... except Baylor came in late just before the season started. Evidently they did not hear of him ... despite just being north of Austin. In speaking with a scout that saw him a couple of times in high school (his senior year), the scout said he was 88-89. If that were the case, it would explain the lack of interest from Garrido, Smith, Childress, and Graham. It is possible that he had his growth in strength (velocity) spurt the past year.

His Dad was obviously very comfortable with Tony and his system. He thinks he is the right guy to prepare his son for the next level. I think he made an excellent choice.

Reagan also played summer ball with the two Lake Travis pitchers in my neck of the woods ... that are also coming to UL next year. Reagan said that he was very excited to be here and loves it. Good kid and very supportive family. His sisters were also in attendance.

Perfect Game clocked Reagan in June 2012 with a max velocity of 89 at one of their tournaments. This was toward the end of his recruiting cycle, so the late velocity bump makes sense.

Tall guys with long limbs take big jumps in velocity when they figure out how to leverage height and long limbs. Who knows why pro scouts were not more interested.
