Lackluster offense, poor defense sink UL in opening day loss

In what wants to be a storybook season, the first chapter was one the UL baseball team would rather rewrite.

The Ragin’ Cajuns – ranked No. 14 in Baseball America’s national preseason poll, and hopeful it can get to Omaha for the College World Series – lost their 2014 season opener 5-1 Friday night to unranked Eastern Illinois in front of 3,718 at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field.

They were dressed and on the field, but you're right; they did not compete last night. Let's hope that stinker gets them to wake up a bit and take 2 games today. I'm sure everyone will feel a lot better if that's the case.

I could have sworn Hunter Stover threw out the first pitch, but I did have a few too many brews leading up to the game... Didn't realize we had a point guard for our baseball team. Now we are finally complete. Solid at every position.
