So much excitement built up that they were trying too hard? I don't know these answers but certainly you don't either. Tony said after the game last night that they had a very good pitcher who kept us off balance all night with good command of the breaker. That is what I witnessed (along with an inconsistent ump behind the plate) but you will rarely hear Tony mention anything about the umpire. He also added that the guys were too amped up and needed to settle down, and that they will. Baseball is a tough game. More mental than physical. That is coach speak in many different sports, but more so the case in baseball than any other sport. Just a few days ago I posted the difference in talent we will have this year. And how we have a top 5-10 caliber team assembled, but don't think we won't lose a game to a Nicholls or Southeastern who will not have as much talent as we do. Although I didn't mention Eastern Illinois the same logic can be used with them. It's part of baseball.
