After the release of a new OS version, Microsoft usually continues to sell the previous OS version for a particular period of time. For example, even after the release of Windows 7, Microsoft continued to sell Windows Vista for more than a year. After the release of Windows 8, Microsoft was expected to end the sales of Windows 7 by this year. According to the updated Windows product lifecycle page, Microsoft will end the sales of Windows 7 Home Basic, Home Premium and Ultimate pre-installed machines by October 2014. However, Microsoft is not ending the sales of Windows 7 Professional this year. This means that Windows OEMs can continue to sell Windows 7 Pro devices to the enterprises even after Oct 2014. This will enable the enterprise customers who still want to buy devices running Windows 7 instead of Windows 8. What do you think? Read more about it here.
