A lack of solid work with the gloves and a lack of clutch hitting at the plate left Tony Robichaux wondering what was wrong this season with UL's baseball team, which opened the year nationally ranked.
After slipping into the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the No. 6 seed, the preseason SBC favorite Ragin' Cajuns won two straight tourney games last week. Their season ended with two losses on Saturday to No. 2 seed New Orleans.
"Hopefully, we can build on some of this," Robichaux said. "We'll try to get rid of the bad we had this year and build on the good."
The bad: The Cajuns (30-29) missed playing in an NCAA Regional for the second time in three years after finishing last in the Sun Belt in hitting (.247) and fielding (112 errors). Their 30 victories were the fewest by the program since going 30-30 in 2003.
