Absolutely. Cold pizza or hot pizza is still pizza. An ugly win or a pretty win is still a win. These kids don't give up. And it pays off.

CBI or CIT. Hope our leaders have a little pride and respectfully say no thanks. Not worth going to, makes "OMIM" look like a joke and gives no advantage recruiting wise.

Reason UALR was able to come back in the 2nd half was because they were able to control the tempo by slowing the game down. There was a much faster flow in the first half when we pushed the lead to double figures. 2nd half was essentially a half court game and we spent too much time trying to force the ball to Long. Not playing in the first half had him out of rhythm which impacted him almost the whole game. Even when we got stops against UALR in the
2nd half we usually could not run out of it as often the change in possession came after balls being knocked out of bounds or missed free throws. On one of the few times we were able to get a defensive rebound and attack it resulted in Rimmer hitting an open three. Personally, I think the foul on Elfrid late in the first OT should not have been called as it was a free ball situation and both guys were going after it. Still, good to see Mbamalu have some key plays in the 2nd OT as it has been a tough year for someone who is a classy young man. As far as free throws go, we shot over our season % and actually shot a higher % than UALR. Granted, slightly less than 70% is not the standard we need to be at to have consistent success. What I can't understand is why Elfrid shoots such a high FT % on the road vs at home. I think he was about 90% in the two Texas games while he was 50% last night. Any psychologists out there who can explain that? Of course there is no such thing as an ugly win but I readily admit the 2nd half and first OT was definitely frustrating. Now on to Arkansas State which is a better team than UALR. We will need to play much better than last night to be successful on Saturday. It does seem the Red Wolves play at a faster pace than UALR which may give us a chance.

    Are you Alan Iverson?

There is high value in practicing. ... even practicing the post season.

    .

No way our guys say no to an invitation for post season play regardless of which tournament it is in. I guarantee you the players on the team would love an opportunity to play more games. You think of them when you make such decisions. Would you go to them and tell them, I turned down the invite because I had too much pride. They would not understand. Who knows, we may have a chance to play someone like Tulane here in one of those tournaments and a victory there would definitely help recruiting. We are scheduled to have 10 of the 12 scholarship players returning. Any game you play post season is an opportunity for those guys to participate in a competitive environment which helps their development.

Yeah, we should definitely pass up an opportunity to play more basketball if it's offered. UL Basketball is like Notre Dame football: if the bowl isn't good enough, we don't play in it.

The senior ultimately finished with 38 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Shown above are Stove's stats for the game in which he led his team to a victory over one of the best 1A teams in the state, last year's Class B champs. He is scoring over 30 on a regular basis in recent games.

Getting back to the game---Vu is getting better and maybe can give another minute of playing time---JJ is a good bball player and needs to use his tools (BULK) to set picks and get position for rebounds and hit the shots right outside the paint (just can't elevate with the weight-----I don't know who said that Register could shoot (but they are very correct and maybe some more minutes)----Moore is one of the fiercest competitors I have seen play for a long time (a tweener if there ever was as he is too small for the basket and not the guard type enough for the perimeter)---EP is what he is (unless he scores on the drives where he is fouled you are looking at a one point play)----Wronk (see Moore above)----Rimmer is maybe our best player (I think he has learned from Ep to take it to the basket and is finally a UL 3 point shooter)-----La Bumba is now at the point of taking on a leadership role for this team and I forgot how good he was (Yes I was the guy that said AAWWWW SSSHHHIT when he hit the off balanced 3 pointer LOL) Long has to play mostly out of position because we lack a 5, but he is a VERY GOOD player!!! And I miss my favorite player (Shepherd)!!!!! And we are planning on New Orleans if possible as the trips to Hot Springs were a lot of fun like a tiny NO BOWL---No doubt that the Commish is thinking a UL presence as for getting the tourney to NO ---one of the things he told me when I mentioned keeping the office in NO (and I jumped his ___ for not having enough publicity in the city)!!!

Yo, you talkin' about...practice. Come on man, practice...

Yeah, y'all are right. Our conference and program has fallen to a point we need to play in a money pit of a tournament nobody watches just to feel good about ourselves. Like that was the goal this team set out for. It's bad enough the NIT stands for Not In Tourney, hell, anything else is not even runner up status. Nothing like risking injury in a crap game. To practice...

    Practice...
