Reading this...I actually think the majority of this disambiguation with our name is done for spite. There are teams with much more difficult to comprehend designations...and we rarely hear of them pulling a Lafayette Leopards on anyone...but us. Maybe it's just because we aren't anyone else...and we can't see past our own fences...but I don't see anyone else in a tizzy this much because of what they are called by the media. Troy to ESPN is Troy...not Troy State...not University of Alabama @ Troy. They are called what they want to be called. There has to be some kind of push for this kind of thing to happen.

Exactly. One could also make the case for the added disambiguation with ULM was to stir the hornet's nest even more. For the longest time they were always ULM...I think this year is when ULAMON started popping up.
