Thread: Tracking the Preaux Career (and health) of Danny Farquhar

  1. Default Farquhar Bonus $112,500

Righthander Danny Farquhar averaged 11.8 strikeouts per nine innings for Louisiana-Lafayette as a sophomore and maintained that whiff rate in the Cape Cod League over the summer.

He wasn't nearly as dominant this spring (9.8 K/9), and his velocity was down as well.

Farquhar pitched in the low 90s in 2007, but this spring he'd only flash that velocity for an inning or two. He likes to varies his arm slots from high three-quarters to sidearm, and his slider was flatter than it had been when he threw from the lower angle.

He's just 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, and there's effort in his delivery, so pro teams project him as a reliever.

Left-hander Hunter Moody and righty Danny Farquhar, one-time teammates on UL's baseball team selected in June by the Toronto Blue Jays, have been reunited in the minor leagues.

    UL Baseball Farquhar en Fuego

Danny Farquhar seems to have found his stride in hs first pro season. In his last four outings totaling 8.2 innings, he has allowed 1 hit, no earned runs or walks with 15 K's. His ERA is 2.31 for the season. I just heard he was promoted to the Lansing Lugnuts in the Midwest League, which somehow seems appropriate.

Good luck, Danny. Get to the majors and get the big bucks. Then send a bunch back to UL.

Off topic, but when I coached my son's t-ball team we were the "lugnuts" and one of moms [before even introducing herself] rudely asked me why we would pick such a name...

I told her I agreed but the league rejected my proposal to call the kids the "rat bastads"

Anyone know how they're doing? I found something about Danny but it wasn't very extensive... says he went 2-2 with a 1.95 ERA http://www.baseballamerica.com/stati...s/?pl_id=87398

I have seen DF pitch a couple of times this spring. He is literally unhittable in the mid to high 90's with an ERA way under 1. I'd buy some DF stock, if ETrade had any.
