Just getting back from the game. Great game, even though we lost.
One thing I must say, UNO fans are the most classless in the SBC.
END RANT
At least they fought to the end,but it sucks to end the season with the bases loaded. If there is one thing this season taught me is to not believe the hype when it comes to this baseball team. This season reminds me so much of 2001 it hurts.
I had something ready to post...but on second thought, I'm going to back away from the message board for a day or two.
It may be best for a lot of people to do the same.
Hate to be negative but,
Does anybody remember on Valentines day when Coach Robe was interviewed by KLAF during the UL vs ULM basketball game?
Tony said this season would be a disappointment if we did not make to the CWS.
I tend to disagree, I think we have alot to look forward to.
I must apologize for my actions after the game. I stood up in "that guy's" face after the game. Only because HE stood up into a 60+ year old Cajun fans face, with his wife. I never want to be called a "LSU wannabe" They must have feltr they were treated wrongly in BR a few weeks ago. I promise they were not here. I have been to 13 games over the past week and have never seen any one act disrespectful to them. And I wil go to the SBC Championship game on Sunday. To show my suport of Louisiana as a great college school, but also as a great college town.
Lafayette Stand Up!
Well, I understand what you are saying. I don't mean to take sides, BUT you don't go to another stadium and trash talk their fans. It's like a golden rule, unless you want to be ganged up on. I have NO sympathy for that man whatsoever. He had NO business trash talking that 60 year old man and his wife, especially after his team ended our season. His YAT butt needs to go back to N'Awlins(might I add that I am from there).
I just don't understand how so many people could have been so wrong about this team. I was hoping that the last week or so was an indication that the team would possibly live up to some of the expectations early in the season. It turned into nothing more than them playing over their heads.
i dont think everbody was that off with this club. When you look at what we had comming back there was potential to be very very good. With that being said I think it was a combination of injuries to the wrong people at the wrong time, and a lack of execution on the players behalf. We had guys that really were clutch last season that returned this year and laid an egg most of the season. In my opinion, a coach shouldn't have to "motivate" a senior to come to the park and strap it on everyday to play hard. I can see a coach having to maybe to that with true freshman until he understands D1 baseball and kinda learns the ropes so to speak. I blame 90% of this season on the leaders of this team. I dont think that they did a good job at all leading this team. When a true freshman comes in and is the stud in your lineup with the vetrans being the inconsistancy we had all year, there is a problem. The freshman were suppose to be protected till they got a little dirt under there cleats by the vetrans. That did not happen. the silver lining is that they got some very valuable playing time early in there careers that can only help in the future. But that did not solve the problem at hand. Early in the year we pitched but couldnt score enough. We didnt hit early enough as we were all sitting around looking at each other trying to find a lineup that would produce runs. then the injury bug hit. It wasnt until the last 3 weeks that we started to put it together. Too little to late. The real amazing thing was how poorly we were defensively. Dropping fly balls, kicking it in the infield, not being able to throw out runners. I cant tell you how taxing that is on a pitching staff. Errors that prolong innings in critical situations make pitchers throw more and more pitches. Just in the last month the LSU game and the 2 Nebraska games were results of errors and allowing them to exstend innings. You cant do that against a quality opponent and exscpect to win. We did not beat ANY quality RPI type ball clubs this year. Not one. Very very disappointing. alright i am getting off the soap box.
Really guys: Aren't we used to this: Being picked up and just let down time after time.
Its sad to say, but I have got used to this. I don't know if its a good thing or a bad thing.
I tend to get ovet these losses better now cause i am so used to it.
When errors make pitchers throw more, more can go wrong... and more things going wrong sums up this season. MORE WENT WRONG THIS YEAR ON THE MOUND BECAUSE THIS WAS A POOR PERFORMING TEAM IN THE FIELD. The mounds' backup didn't back up.
