When rain and lightning postponed Thursday's action, UL coach Tony Robichaux called pitchers Brent Solich and Michael Cook into his office late that night.
With Solich getting an extra day of rest, Robichaux moved him up a day in the rotation in an attempt to slow down No. 7 seed South Alabama on the bases.
Solich made sure the move paid off.
For the second consecutive year, Solich mowed down the Jaguars in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as the sixth-seeded Ragin' Cajuns won their fifth straight with an 8-1 win on Friday. The senior lefty recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts and tossed a four-hitter in his first complete game of the year.
