UL - One game away from a berth in the championship game, the sixth-seeded Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns will face the second-seeded New Orleans Privateers in Game 11 of the 2008 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship for a 9 a.m. first pitch Saturday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field. Louisiana (30-27) has won five in a row and eight of its last 10 games.
Friday, the Ragin' Cajuns were victorious behind their second straight complete-game performance from a senior pitcher. Brent Solich (Lakewood Ranch, Fla.) allowed one run on four hits with a career-high 12 strikeouts to help the Cajuns advance with an 8-1 win over South Alabama.
New Orleans (40-18) rebounded from a first-round run-rule loss to South Alabama with a 14-4 seven-inning victory to eliminate the Jaguars Friday night. Last weekend, the Cajuns swept the Privateers at "The Tigue", effectively ending New Orleans' chances at a regular season Sun Belt title.
