You should have ended your post with_ Interesting quote. I've seen this on many LSU boards, since their elimination. But I have a few questions for you. If softball is not a major sport, then what is the reason LSU is spending several million dollars on a new softball facility? Why not just leave them where they are? It's good enough, isn't it? If softball is not a major sport, then why did LSU consistantly pursue and eventually get one of the top softball coaches in the country, Yvette Girourd? Why not just use an "also ran" coach to pacify the NCAA Title IX? If softball is not a major sport, then why does LSU fight to get a regional every single year? I mean, isn't that an awful lot of trouble for something that doesn't mean anything? If softball isn't a major sport, then why does LSU go after the top talent in the country and consistantly try to be in the top 25 of the country? That seems to be wasteful spending of valuable dollars out of LSU's budget for the "major" sports. Seems to me that they ought to just open their doors and take whatever walks in the door.
You are right about softball not being a major sport. That's only if you compare it to football, baseball, and basketball. But it is major in it's own right and UL,LSU and other universities recognized this. It is a sport that is still growing. It's more popular than gymnastics, track, lacrosse and other sports, don't you think? Yeah, Title IX forced some schools into starting their programs, but Title IX didn't force them to pump millions of dollars into state of the art stadiums and increased budgets. So, if and when LSU is in the national title game at the WCWS, I guess that we'll all see the DA print on the front page another article about how all of the state is supposed to be showing their pride and support the Tigers. On second thought, never mind. It's not a major sport._
THAT'S A FACT!!!!
