What are the top 4? Certainly football is one and men's basketball is two. Baseball and women's basketball must be three and four. In this day and age, I would be surprised that men and women's soccer haven't surpassed softball. Hockey could be up there too.........also a regional sport--to the north what softball is to the south maybe. I don't know if softball would be number five, but I haven't checked NCAA attendance statistics. I'm sure its published on their website.

Look, congrats to the Lady Cajuns for winning in LSU's home park, but no UL sports team has a winning record against LSU in anything. Softball is also not a "major" sport. That is a fact. _
LSU baseball was nothing until the football team went AWOL for about 10-11 years. They didn't even fill the Box this year. Football's back and the baseball crowd is the real hardliners(no pun intended).

We realize softball won't finance our athletic dept. but it's a nick in the armor and Tiger fans can't stand to lose to another in state school in anything. State always tries to pick the right times to play the other state schools.

Doubt if we'll ever compete in football but already to in baseball and if we can get basketball back to resembling our glory days, we'll give you all you want in that arena too.

I think it would be good for the state to make sure financially that at least 2-3 schools can compete on the same level. Most states have at least 2.

Hey, Cub, I pray that all of your Y chromosomes are in order, so that you only have to attend your children's "major" sports games.

I meant on a national or regional level. I listened to Cowherd and Rome all week and neither mentioned the softball world series once, not once.

ON the little kids level or high school level, it is different.

The ONLY REASON cajun fans are crowing about this is b/c it is all you guys have. Baseball sucks, football is a joke and basketball is terrible.

Just remember LSU still leads the series 14-6 and has an overall winning record over UL in all sports. THat is a fact.

How many times has the UL basketball team been to NCAA tourney since 1990?

HOw many times has the UL basketball team beaten LSU since 1990?

I think the athletes should be proud of their work product and talents, however, judging by fan attendance, t.v. exposure and so forth, softball is not a major sport. Sorry.

Our basketball team is not where we went it to be. However I don't think a 15 and 15 record with a conference division championship qualifies as "terrible". Terrible is when you are 8 and 22. I think the appropriate term for last year is average. If we don't continue to progress next season, there will be concerns. As far as who leads an overall series, that is not surprising considering the tremendous resource advantage LSU has over us and all other state schools. I noticed you did not respond to my point that everything is major to the athletes who participate in the sport. I bet you don't tell Dani Hofer (LSU pitcher) that her efforts are not important as she is not part of a major sport.
