Thread: WAFB ???

  1. UL Softball WAFB ???

I called WAFB to see why there was so little info on the game and none on the website. Steve said it has to do with legality. Because of NCAA regulations, they own footage and rights to all information dealing with regionals. He went onto explain to me “It’s like Napster, do you remember that? A bunch of people went to prison for copyright infringement, we don’t want that." He said had it been a regular season game they would have covered it more and it would be on the website...No more stirring, just wanted to pass this on.

Uh...the other Baton Rouge station covered it and showed video. Sounds like a lame excuse.

Uhhhh, maybe it was just too upsetting for one of their "award winning" sportscasters. No need to mention any names here. lol!

A LAME EXCUSE would be putting it mildly Hammer. We all know why the lack of coverage but it's ok a "true" champion is humble!!!! I am just so happy for those young ladies and for UL.

Kinda like the limited coverage on ESPN 1420 after UL was defeated by LSU in baseball and football the last couple of times.

Look, congrats to the Lady Cajuns for winning in LSU's home park, but no UL sports team has a winning record against LSU in anything. Softball is also not a "major" sport. That is a fact.

The sport is "major" to the young ladies who play it. Would you make that comment to the women who played well enough for the Tigers that they earned a No. 1 seed this year. That attitude denigrates their efforts. They work just as hard as any other athlete. I bet if you were in the batters circle looking at Ashley Brignac in the circle you may have a different attitude.

Prior to the regional, Hammer predicted that were the Cajuns to win we would get the "softball does not really count" attitude from LSU fans. He also predicted had the Tigers won, the attitude would have been we put them in their place again. Events of the last two days indicate he was a prophet.

Are you trying to say the football game was some big game that needed an abundance of coverage???? Softball was a "major" sport when the tiggers were winning.

Coteau Tigger just comes around to "keep us in our place". Any one with ANY class would say congrats and move on. OR better yet stay away all together.

I read there are thirty-six NCAA sports and softball is the fifth in popularity. Major enough for me.

What are the top 4? Certainly football is one and men's basketball is two. Baseball and women's basketball must be three and four. In this day and age, I would be surprised that men and women's soccer haven't surpassed softball. Hockey could be up there too.........also a regional sport--to the north what softball is to the south maybe. I don't know if softball would be number five, but I haven't checked NCAA attendance statistics. I'm sure its published on their website.
