BATON ROUGE — Even when life got hard Saturday against LSU, UL pitcher Ashley Brignac trusted herself.

The freshman had no other choice.

“Once your confidence goes down that’s when you start losing,” she said. “You can’t doubt yourself, ever. You have to have confidence.”

Brignac cruised to a hot start Saturday. She allowed only one hit — Rachel Mitchell’s infield single in the top of the fourth - before the Tigers mounted a comeback facing a 9-0 deficit.

In the fifth, LSU’s Jessica Mouse drilled a two-run homer to left center. Youngsville native Quinlan Duhon followed with a two-run shot in the sixth to cut it to 9-4.
