BATON ROUGE - Standing along a fence behind the third-base stands at Tiger Park, Lacey Bertucci screamed "Dude" until the veins popped in her neck and wrapped the object of this celebration in a bear hug.
Melissa Verde's face was squeezed into the shoulder of her former UL teammate.
Bertucci's eyes then leaked a few tears.
If it hadn't happened already, a legend was born here on Saturday after the Ragin' Cajuns blew LSU away early and held on late for a 9-4 win to reach the championship series of the Baton Rouge Regional.
"I'm speechless," said Bertucci, who graduated last year as UL's record holder for career games (255). "That girl ... what she's doing - she's one of a kind."
