  1. UL Baseball Sixth-Seeded Ragin' Cajuns to Face Troy

UL - Less than four hours after a momentous home Sun Belt series sweep of longtime in-state rival New Orleans, the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns earned the No. 6 seed in next week’s Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship. Louisiana (28-27) will face the third-seeded Troy Trojans (31-24) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.

The 2008 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship will begin with No. 4 Florida Atlantic and No. 5 Western Kentucky at 9 a.m. The second-seeded UNO Privateers will face the seventh-seeded South Alabama Jaguars at 12:30 p.m., while top-seeded ULM plays the eighth seed Blue Raiders of Middle Tennessee at 4 p.m.

The four-day tournament, which is hosted by the University of Louisiana, will begin on Tuesday with the first annual Sun Belt Conference Family Night at M.L. “Tigue” Moore Field. Highlighting the evening will be a Media Home Run Derby which will feature eight members of the Lafayette media.

Tickets are currently on sale to general public. Tournament booklets are $75 for reserved seats and $40 for General Admission. Tickets to individual games are $12 for reserved seats (box, patio box and chairbacks) and $8 for General Admission seating (bleachers). The stadium will be cleared following the conclusion of each tournament contest.

Because of Sun Belt Conference tournament requirements, some seats must be used for tournament personnel. Accommodations will be made for all those affected. The tournament will consist of a minimum of 13 games with as many as 15 games necessary to determine the conference tournament championship.

Should be a good game wednesday. I'm really glad they changed the time from 9am to a 7:30 start. As a Troy grad, I sure hope we return the favor from the slaughtering you guys submitted us to earlier in the season.
