Thread: Signing Day for Dummies

    Default Signing Day for Dummies

So I'm perfectly happy to admit that when it comes to recruiting I don't know a thing about it. I've read through the threads and I've looked through the recruiting websites but I still can't make sense of it all. All I see are a lot of questionable star ratings that no one puts faith in and a bunch of names I've never heard of. So I have just one question for those of you who do know what they are talking about:

How excited am I supposed to feel about this recruiting class?

I think if you have enjoyed the last 3 football seasons, then you should feel good!

    Thanks T.

So you'd say the talent level is comparable to the last two classes?

They are 18 year old kids. We should all find something more important to worry about. But, I still checked out who signed.

Having watched the film I say yes. We upgrade at LB, and added guys on the DL comparable to Hamilton and Ringo. The lack of skill guys is why this class is not rated as high. We signed a solid class.

Not as many guys that score touchdowns, more guys that protect those that do and/or stop others from scoring. We'll see how the class shakes out a couple years in, but this class is very much a "backbone" class...the guys that will be road graters and brick walls for 4 years. Doesn't hurt that you throw in a couple good slot receivers in Fuselier and Adkins, a position we SORELY lacked in last year after the departure of Harry Peoples.

Combine that with the guys we signed last year but redshirted and arrival of transfers like Trey Granier, and I think we're pretty well-stocked headed into the 2014 season.

The only thing that I will add to this is I believe there are more players in this group than ever before that are SEC
    level athletes

Granier has 3 to play 3. Anyone know how he looks? Will he be competing for the open spot at MLB next year?

I wonder if Darzil will move to the inside or stay outside. He has the size for either, just not sure what his speed is like. Also curious to see how Posey fits in. I think being here for the spring will be a huge advantage for him although Granier has time in a college program already.
