Hawaii wanted Populist to play defensive back according to Scout.com Mike Coppage. Coppage has a broader scope than the CRZ and covers a lot of TooLame and SLU prospects. I do not at this time know where the Cajuns want him to play, or probably as a freshman practice.
Don't know how to feel about this young man as a player, as he is unranked at this time and zero stars. He claims he has explosive speed, his words not mine, and his season stats were something like 1300 in the air, and 700 on the ground.
If as the Scout article says, and I have no reason to doubt doubt Mr. Coppage, he had real offers from Hawaii and SLU that ain't all bad. Hawaii(MWC) has been the home of plenty of good football players over the years, and SLU has made great strides under their new coach.
I say Populist will be a popular addition to the history and lore of UL football when he leaves here, welcome to your new and best home Mr. Populist.
