That's great news. Let's hope that the field is ready for the event to take place. They said that the date for completion is July first. That is if the rain don't cause any delays.......

  4. ooh LA La. Drums Acros Cajun Field

Everybody needs to go see Drums Across Cajun Field tomorrow if you can.
    A. You'll get to see the new field.
    B. You'll get to see some major league marching bands.
    C. The more money we make tomorrow for the PoA, the less money I'll have to pay (end everyone else) when we got to Scotland and England next year. (And I'm a poor college student, I need all the monetary help I can get!)

In PoA news, we'll be doing two shows this year, the first show is Music of Louisiana, and the second Star Wars, (we wanted to do John Williams stuff, but, it's hard to get his music.) We'll be alternating shows every game, we won't be playing one show for the first half, and another for the second half of the season, hopefully this'll be a little more refreshing. Hopefully y'all will enjoy it. No word on if we'll be learning anymore stands music though.

Also, watch the Saints, we'll be possibly playing at one or two Saints games. One maybe being on Sunday, September 7, and the other one maybe being on Sunday, Oct. 12.

The PoA will be representing UL, Lafayette, Louisiana, and the United States in Scotland and England! We're going for about a week next April, (we leave on a Wednesday and come back on the next Thursday) We're going to be organizing fundraisers to help pay for the trip (its based on the exchange rate, and the dollar ain't doing too well against the British Pound) I'll put information about the fundraisers on here, and any help would be appreciated (because it directly affects the price we have to pay to go.) Thanks!

Anyway, I hope that it's a good year for the PoA and Cajun Football!

(Darn it, I spelled ACROSS wrong in the title. I'm dumb.)

Ragin' Cajuns Re: Drums Acros Cajun Field

Hey CB, I'll be there tonight. I'm a Pride alumnus living in New Orleans and have decided to make this event an annual excuse to take some vacation time in my OTHER hometown!! ALSO, I'll be helping out an organization that will have a recruiting table at the event: The Greater New Orleans Drum Corps Association. Stop by and check us out!!! I still come into town for most games (as others on this board will attest!) and I ALWAYS watch the Pride at halftime! It's exciting to hear about all the cool events Brian's cooked up for you guys (yes, I know him) this year. Can't wait to hear you guys on Sept. 20th!!!

JMO, but we are the University of Louisiana not the University of Acadiana. Seems like the band should be the Pride of Louisiana instead of PoA.

  7. ooh LA La. Re: Drums Acros Cajun Field

Well, I agree Sugar Land, but, that's not up to me. Also, I unfortunately have to miss it tonight because of work. Damn retail.

Just got back. Excellent lineup, very entertaining.

Field looked great I heard many good comments. HOWEVER, the restrooms were absolutely filthy. There is no excuse for it. When you invite guests to your house the first thing you clean is your bathroom. There were so many people there tonight that have never set foot in Cajun Field and maybe because of that they never will again.

The restroom problem is very disappointing to hear. I'm glad the show went well though, I just wish I could've made it.

  10. ooh LA La. 10 elite ensembles compete; Glassmen hold interactive clinic for high school bands

Area high school band members enjoyed a special clinic hosted by the Glassmen of Toledo, Ohio, featuring interaction and instruction with staff and corps members.

Sorry to hear that. Why don't you email Scott Farmer at UL and let him know. This should have been taken care of while the turf was being installed.

Don't think Mr. Farman is not aware of the "T" rooms. He said that they were to start pressure washing the stand two week ago. Has that been started yet? The excuse was that it was raining. They have sections that need washing that you don't get wet by rain. The rest rooms is one of those and should be the first in line.
