A season that started with such promise has come down to the last three-game series of the regular season for UL's baseball team.
The Ragin' Cajuns have a magic number of two to clinch a spot in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament, which is May 21-24 at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
Seventh-place UL, picked in the preseason to win the conference, can guarantee a postseason berth by winning two games against first-place New Orleans (38-14, 18-8 SBC) during a Senior Weekend that kicks off at 6:30 tonight at Moore Field.
Two losses by ninth-place Florida International, which plays fourth-place Florida Atlantic this weekend, would also get the Cajuns (25-27, 13-14) into the conference tournament.
