Thread: Beer at games question

    Default Beer at games question

Something just occured to me. Isn't the only reason we can sell beer at sporting events is because our athletic facilities are not connected to the main campus?

Well my question is... with the University master plan, I believe they eventually plan on connecting the two campuses via the St. Landry/Colliseum corridor correct? If they do this... will we then not be allowed to sell beer at games? I know this is pretty far into the future but it's just a thought. Cajuns not being able to drink at sporting events would be a tragedy.

No it has nothing to with being on or off campus. WKU's football stadium is on their campus and they sell beer. It is up to each member institution or the conference. I believe it is against the rules of the SEC to sell beer at their athletic events.

The confusion that everyone has is because of the Cajundome and we first started having beer at basketball games. The Cajundome is run by the city so you had beer at the basketball games. Everyone assumed it was an NCAA rule that you couldn't have alcohol at your event, this may have been the case earlier.

UL baseball, football and Men and Women's Basketball all sell beer. They just use wrist bands to identify those that are of age and stop selling at a certain point and time in the event to allow people to be safer going home. Hopefully there are designated drivers involved in every fans party!
