Just realized I was looking at the wrong weekend for Boise flights. I had the 09/13 @ Ole Miss and the 09/20 @ Boise confused. Some reason I thought that Boise game was first.

I've flown into LC before. Sort of looks like a two-story bank from the outside. Not very impressive looking.

But to give credit where it's due, they are able to land planes in crappy weather conditions, which is more than I can say for the joke of an airport in Lafayette. Hopefully the improvements that have been going on around LFT will make things easier for those who want to fly Lafayette.

They also need to extend the runway in Lafayette to land bigger planes. I think this would also help with conference changes later as most of the AQ conferences have private charters for football. I don't think they want to land in NO and bus.

I have on good authority, wait until May. Southwest has their big sale in May and it flies into B-town and supposedly are around 150 each

Yeh it's basically going to be $350+ per person for flights. This is the reason why I had to back out of the Boise trip and am doing the Ole Miss trip now.

Lake Chuck did recently build a new 28 mil terminal after Hurricane Rita destroyed the old one. Haven't been inside, but looks nice from the outside. I believe it has two boarding bridges.

Regarding IFR capabilities, LCH has one CAT I ILS (precision) approach to runway 15 while LFT has them for both 22L and 4R. A CAT I ILS provides precision guidance down to 200' (typically) before the pilot must make visual contact with the runway environment. BTR also has two, but is pushing to upgrade one of them to a CAT II (100').

The main runway at LFT was recently lengthened to 8,001' when the FAA required EMAS installations at both ends. The runway at ARA in New Iberia is 8,002'. The main advantage between the two goes to LFT with load-bearing capacity being nearly twice that of the runway at ARA.
