Louisiana has won seven Sun Belt Conference Tournament titles.

UL - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns softball team will look to claim their eighth Sun Belt Conference Tournament title as they begin play in the 2008 SBC Tournament. The Cajuns are the No. 1 seed and begin their championship run on Wednesday as they take on the No. 8 seed Western Kentucky at 5:30 p.m. at Trojan Field in Troy, Ala.

Louisiana is 22-2 (.917) all-time in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament. The Cajuns won the first seven SBC Tournament titles going undefeated in the tournament before falling last season to North Texas and Western Kentucky.

The Lady Cajuns finished the regular season ranked No. 16 in the NFCA’s Top-25 poll. UL finished 42-12 overall and 19-3 in Sun Belt Conference play. The Cajuns were an impressive 22-1 at Alfred and Helen Lamson Ragin’ Cajuns Softball Park.

The trip will mark the second time this season the Cajuns will head to Troy, Ala. The Cajuns previous visit resulted in a pair of Louisiana victories over the host Trojans. The Ragin’ Cajuns won 4-0 and 4-2 before having the final game of the scheduled three-game series canceled because of inclement weather in the area.

ULM and North Texas both have 9-15 conference records, but North Texas gets the higher seed having won the series between the two teams.
