Long before the current 2013-14 college basketball season began, players and coaches alike fretted over the fear that referees were going to whistle defensive players every time someone with the ball was touched.

The NCAA tasked them, after all with making more calls, even far from the basket, to help open up the game and increase scoring nationwide.
