Going into his senior season, Michael Desormeaux remains firmly entrenched as UL's starting quarterback.
Such stability under center will be common in the Sun Belt Conference going into next season. Of the conference's eight teams, only Troy lost its starter in Omar Haugabook, the Sun Belt's Offensive Player of the Year.
Coaches across the Sun Belt agree having a veteran quarterback plays a huge role in team success.
"There is no doubt a returning quarterback makes a difference," UL Monroe coach Charlie Weatherbie said during Thursday's post-spring teleconference call. "He's your point guard, so to speak, and makes the decisions on where the ball goes in the run game and pass game.
"It's key to have someone who has some experience and has been in the fire."
