The way UL softball coach Michael Lotief sees it, he celebrates the contributions of seniors Holly Tankersley, Vanessa Soto and Brooke Brodhead on a daily basis.
On Sunday, the trio celebrated their final home game with a 10-0 mercy-rule win over UL Monroe in five innings on Senior Day at Lamson Park.
The three seniors, who were honored before the game, went a combined 4-for-7 with three runs scored and two RBIs to clinch the Sun Belt series and wrap up the regular season. The 16th-ranked Ragin' Cajuns finished the year 22-1 at home after securing their seventh conference title in eight years last week.
"It's very nice to have the support and love from the fans, your family and the other girls and their families," said Tankersley, who is UL's career leader in walks and is second with 66 homers. "It was a very exciting day for us."
