I had forgot that I even had a log in name on here so I haven't been around here for a while. But this is the second time in 2 games that our defense has lost us a game. The amount of errors we're committing is terrible.

Didn't Robe say in the post game show that we are ranked last in the Sun Belt in defense? What are you trying to argue with me for?

Yes, I think the first game was our best chance to win this weekend. I really, really hope I am wrong. The fact that we faced their "ace" doesn't change my OPINION that our best chance for a win today was in game 1.
Evidently, Nebraska is not going with their #2 pitcher in terms of ERA. Still, I like our chances against ANYBODY with Moody. I am not nearly as confident with any of our other pitchers. My opinion does not change.
I agree. Against LSU on Tuesday night, we had runners on 2nd and 3rd in the 2nd (pretty sure it was the 2nd) with 0 outs and we couldn't get either one in. This was after we had already pushed 1 run across. What was the final score? 5-3. There's our 2 runs we needed.
Today, we left only 6 on base (NU left 11!!!). If we could have someone just got one of those LOB across, we'd at least have shot (hell, we would have been leading going to the 8th and I like our chances when leading going into the 8th).
This has been the problem I've noticed throughout the year; it's been the hitters coming through with RISP. I looked at the stats page on ragincajuns.com and they don't list a team batting average with RISP. If I had to guess, I'd say it's pretty low.
First pitch for game 2 is 6:35 pm.
The above is a bit misleading because the 2007 total includes 16 more games, which is significant. The bottom line is that the Cajuns are 10 points off defensively from last season. And last season would be considered a mediocre season defensively. A .952 fielding percentage (this season) is simply poor and would rank at or near the bottom of a lot of conferences.

Glad you posted that. I have only seen a few games, but you can really see a decline in the infield defense from previous years. The other thing we are really bad at is strikeouts. I do not have any stats, but it seem like we strikeout more than most teams. That would be OK if we were a power hitting team, but we are really loaded with single and gap hitters (I'm trying to be kind). Anyway, this is a lost season. LEts hope we can make the SBC Tourny and gain some tournament experience.
Next year will be sweet for UL!![]()
