Sometimes the art of hitting goes beyond having the right bat, a good eye and quick wrists.

Take, for example, UL's Scott Hawkins.

Coming off an All-American season as a sophomore for the Ragin' Cajuns, Hawkins got off to a slow start and missed three games with a sprained ankle earlier in the year. The junior designated hitter eventually rebounded as his batting average climbed to .333 going into the series finale against South Alabama on April 20.

One week later, Hawkins found himself in a slump.
