I have no visions of our greatness. The perceptions I speak of are the perceptions of the greatness of the tiggers. They're average and seats are empty. Fact is, the seats are sold - but no one is going to the games. Last night was one the bigger actual attendance games for them. Empty seats don't buy cokes or shirts.
Tony says alot of stuff depending on the flavor of the day. I wonder if someone could name one recruit who said "No I'm not going to UL cause they haven't played the tiggers in 6 years."
Fact is we get a return from Rice and Nebraska next year yet we ride our bikes to get the play with the big kids in BR and NO.
Maybe we ought to have a little backbone.
My seats were possibly the worst angle on the field to see the play at first, but I am going to have to believe it was a foul ball based on Tony's reaction to the call. Good call or bad call, two errors following that play lost the game for us. Blaming the ump for the loss is like blaming Bartman for the Cubs losing in '03. The tiggers had no errors and no walks allowed. That wins baseball games.
I still find it hard to believe that our hitting philosophy is "aggressive" when we take first pitch fastballs ALL NIGHT.
i may be the only one thinking this, but i don't care where we play anyone. as long as we play good teams. if we want to be a good team, we need to beat good teams anywhere. so what if we have to go to BR, we need to go and win.
the umps didn't lose that game last night for us, we did. the umps seemed like they did a good job last night.
the thing that aggravates the crap out of me is that before the season, people on this website were talking about Omaha, and beating LSU at the Box. now we will be lucky to make it out of conference. same thing happened in basketball. in december, everyone was saying we are the best in louisiana, maybe so, but we don't need to brag about it to everyone. next up, we may end up at a regional in BR for softball, do we want to feel good and talk ____ now, or wait and see if we win first?
I know you have heard of homefield advantage. It's what everyone in every sport plays for. I don't care about who we play or where. All I want is equal treatment and for the program to be more than a rent a win at any place including BR or NO or Lincoln. The mentality of we have to be on the road to play anyone of value is inferior. This is not football we don't have to go get a whippin for the $. We perceive ourselves as inferior, we accept that we are inferior, and we ride our bikes like we are inferior.
Last night the call at first - foul or not - who knows? Last year we got almost the same call at Tulane. Anyone remember that? The Road is not friendly. We got the regional in 2000 because we beat the greenies and their ace here. Jones won't ever come back.
Get off the kool-aid.
Basically, if the ball, from the perspective of the umpire is heading on a line over the bag (fair territory) as a possibility, prior to reaching said bag, and the player ever so much as grazes the ball, it is a fair ball. The question is, was it clearly a foul or fair ball, and did the player touch it. I did not think he touched it. I thought it was a foul ball. However, if it was touched, it could have been a valid call.
We couldnt see if it was a fair ball or not, because CST showed one replay and was prolly told to stop showing it because it clearly without a doubt showed the ball was fould by more than 3 quarters of a foot. If first base ump missed it, home plate ump should have had his back. Apparently they had LSU's back. You guys keep saying we didnt do what it took to win. Take back that foul oh wait my bad double and its no outs and a man on first. And that can really shake a team to their foundation when you get hosed like that. Imagine trying to stay composed when something that blatant just happened and you know what the deal is. But thats all ok with me. Cause right now LSU knows that they are not heads and shoulders better than us. This prolly means we wont play them again for another 8 years. But hey, they fear us. We cant say they fear us in that many sports, but in baseball and softball they make it a point not to come to Lafayette and not play us for that matter. Its a chink in their armor. And thats ok. BTW Solich did a good job battling the refs last night, way to hang tough. And the hitting was ok until the umps turned the game in LSU's favor. Like I said guys you keep saying we didnt do what it took to win. On the contrary, the umps did what it took to win. LSU sure didnt. I digress, I feel bad for Jordan Porier. The guy has a sub 200 average, and man did he come close to giving us the lead in the 8th. I knew he wanted that one big time. And how about Matt Goulas and his incredible horizontal catching skills. Yep he is a freshman folks. Anyways, LSU knows were their bread is buttered. See them again in 8 years. No hair off my back. Bye bye purple menace. Hope Kentucky skull drags that team into oblivion. FLSU! Down with the evil empire! Viva La UL Revolucion!
Why don't you stop crying and maybe look at the 3 errors that yall had. Oh wait, that had nothing to do with the game correct. Point is we didn't just straight up beat yall, UL shot themselves in the foot not once, not twice, but three times. Stop crying about it and take like a man!!!!!! And as far as the known where our bread is buttered, i guess you didn't look out at right field our at the flags in center field. So SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!! On a lighter note, I really enjoyed last night and you guys were a pleasure to hang with, no reason why this should not be a weekend series with switching sites each year. Good luck the rest of the year!!!
If a foul ball would have been called, those 2, yes 2 errors might not have happened there punchy. I had no idea you guys have umps on the payroll. Good for you. Circumvent that whole competition thing. Way to go! As for the bread being buttered, youre gonna have to elaborate. You are an LSU fan, so let me dumb it down for you. You guys know what you did to win last night. Does that make it clearer for ya? I am taking it like a man BTW, a man doesnt just lay down and let some bloated purple sham walk all over them. As for the weekend series look to LSU for the reason it doesnt happen. Here is a question for ya buddy, are you an LSU alum?
If you at all understood the rules, you wouldn't have typed that. Go back and watch it on DVR, you can see all the replays you want. The base determines whether or not it's foul, not the foul line you're trying to argue about. The ball passed over the corner of the base. The umpire was 6 feet away straddling the line watching it.
I'm an LSU alumni and a Loyola Law Alumni. Does that in any way make me biased as to finding it hillarious that you're trying to blame this game on umpires or allege LSU has umpires on the payroll? Time to take off the tinfoil hat and just accept that LSU played a much better and much more consistent game. No one is asking you to lay down, they're asking you to stop wining and making up unsupported, unsubstantiated excuses for your loss.
Congrats you passed the Rorschac test. I saw it, it was foul and it hit before the base and it was plain as day. You know what happened. By the way are you an LSU alum? You answered my question tLSU. Thanks.
