Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week: Donna Bourgeois

UL - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns softball team won five games last week en route to clinching their seventh Sun Belt Conference Regular Season Championship. Leading the way for the Lady Cajuns in the circle was Donna Bourgeois (Lafayette, La.) who earned Pitcher of the Week accolades for her performance. Bourgeois led the Ragin' Cajuns pitching staff on the week. She boasted a perfect 0.00 ERA with four appearances. She made four starts on the week, throwing a complete game with two shutouts. The freshman worked 19.0 innings, fanning 21 batters and holding opponents to a .203 batting average. Bourgeois began the week with a complete game one-hit shutout of North Texas. In her first game with the Mean Green, Bourgeois fanned nine batters and did not allow a batter past first base. She worked 6.0 innings in the series finale with North Texas. She fanned five batters en route to her second win of the week. In the second game against Troy, Bourgeois scattered seven hits in 6.0 innings of work, holding the Trojans scoreless. She fanned seven batters in the game, picking up her third win of the week. The Lady Cajuns return to action on Wednesday, Apr. 30 as they head to Houston for a doubleheader with the Cougars. Last weekend to watch the Cajuns at home. Everything is on schedule. They are really, really playing like CHAMPIONS! Saturday games at 1 and 3 p.m. Sunday game at noon. The Sunday game will be on KLAF-TV, but it isn't like being there. The three B's a just fantastic in the circle. The defense is superb even with Melissa playing with a torn ACL and a brace. The offense has three speedy slappers that can flat out run. Really, really GREAT softball! Shouldn't miss this.
