Impending severe weather shortened this weekend's Sun Belt baseball series between UL and Troy, forcing the teams to wrap up the three-game set with a doubleheader on Saturday.

The combination of strong pitching, timely hitting and solid defense by the Ragin' Cajuns led to a 5-3 win in the first game of the day at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field. Troy rebounded with an 11-4 win in the nightcap to avoid its first conference sweep of the year.

"We're glad we won the series," UL coach Tony Robichaux said. "We've got to continue to work to stay away from being Jekyll and Hyde."

Even with the loss, the preseason Sun Belt favorite Cajuns (22-22, 12-12 SBC) won their first home conference series in four tries this season to remain seventh in the standings.
