The fathers of two UL students who were victims of domestic violence earlier this year threw out the first pitch of Friday's Ragin' Cajun-Troy baseball game on "Domestic Violence Night" at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

Leverne Spikes, 59, traveled from Bogalusa to honor his daughter, Keosha Spikes, a senior set to graduate in May. She was killed Jan. 25 by her boyfriend.

He said his daughter's sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, plans to honor her with a statue on campus. In May, Spikes will accept his daughter's degree on her behalf.

Yural Henry, 45, of Opelousas wanted to honor the memory of his daughter, Tonya Renee Major. The junior nursing student was killed Feb. 10 by the father of her son, Kaleb, who will be 2 in July. With Kaleb sitting on his lap, Henry said the school is looking to establish a scholarship fund in his daughter's name.
