HUD leads the Cajuns to 10 wins this season.
13-0!!!!
Yea..... Hallaleuha
This could set Phase I back another year, not having to worry about losing Hud for the upcoming season.
man that calls for a cigar wheres my coffee. Best news i heard all year. Now i can think about CAJUN BASEBALL
Enjoy it this year because if a true big time gig comes open next season we are losing HUD. Vandy is not better than Louisiana as far as a job is concerned, in fact it is worse. Hud can win 7-10 games a year here for the rest of his career and make close to $30 million over that time span. Or he could go to a school like Miss St, Vandy, Kentucky and traditionally poor football performing schools. He may make $15 mil in 5 years at Vady or those other schools, but the pressure is so much greater it is not worth the headache just to say you are in the SEC. Hud is waiting for a job like UGA, Florida, LSU, or USCe where you have a shot at an SEC crown and plus one title. You will never win one of those at Miss St, Vandy, Kentucky or Ole Miss.
The main thing that we need to focus on here at Louisiana is to complete the Athletic Complex/IPF expansion first and foremost. The stadium will be nice but it is secondary when you are trying to get coaches and recruits to want to be a part of this program.
yup hud is basically passing through for lack of better words. We need to keep pressure on the ones we stuck with ie, MARTIN HALL !!!!
He probably would lead us to 12 wins, and a staff member leads us to number 13. Just ask NIU, and ASU as their coaches do not coach the bowls teams as they move on.
The stalking season is not over, but I am glad our coaches can again fully focus on recruiting 2014 signing class.
I have heard this argument many times before and everytime I do it sounds rediculously to me.
Was UL not "traditionally a poor football school" when Hud took the job? He took a job at a University where we have NEVER had a coach leave and be a Division I head coach again. EVER!!!
Competitors like Hud don't look at other people's failures in the past and think, "Well if those guys couldn't win there I sure can't."
Dude is full of confidence and believes that whatever University he chooses to coach at he can make a winner. His history has proven that he is correct so far.
Things are different now my friend. We were a coaching graveyard, we olny paid what the state allowed $250,000 for a HC. Our budget was abysmal, but all of that is changing.
Hud will likely make $1,000,000 or more with this new contract extension. He is under know pressure at all! While 7-5 would be a disappointment it is not the end of the world, he can make $30 plus million during his time at Louisiana if he chooses to stay here for his entire career.
We are at a crossroads as a program and it is up the administration to come through and we may see a meteoric rise is the perception within this state as a program. But, this is all on the administration at this point. Hud knows this and understands that with the right strategic moves he could become the next Chris Peterson and choose the exact job he wants.
That is where we are headed, at Vandy you choose the first better job you can get because you may only get one chance. There is no long term sustainable chance of success there. Louisiana can reasonably expect to win 8-11 games for as long as HUD is here. Continue to win bowl games and then he can pick and choose.
