this morning as I sit at my desk at my office I am reading in the Sun Herald how between Miss St and Ole Miss that they have signed 16 out of 25 of the Mississippi top 25 recruits. What the article also says is that the Mississippi recruits overall as a class aren't as talented as in most years and that the recruiting class statewide is average wit no real standouts.

What I'm questioning is that since UL recruits heavily in Mississippi does it mean that we may have a drop off of quality also in the recruits that we bring in this year?

I'm not running around saying the sky is falling and I am sure that HUD will put together the best recruiting class possible, I'm just wondering about others opinion on this.

Only 6 of our 18 commits thus far are from Mississippi. And three of those are from JUCO's so not part of this year's actual High School class. So only 3 of our 18 commits so far are from the current Mississippi high school pool. And two of the three Mississippi high school recruits are 3 star recruits. We good.

How do they know how these kids will turn out three or four years from now? I put my trust in Hud and crew.

I agree. It's all about getting kids who Hud knows he can develop into a fine college football player. The Lotief's are masters at this. IMO it is vital for a coach to have a nack for this when recruiting at non-AQ school in order to be successful. It is very tough to get the blue-chippers.

I also trust that HUD will have a strong recruiting class. It just concerns me that we are this close to signing day and really aren't hearing a lot on recruiting, which I would much rather hear about over constant name issues

We don't have many spots left. It's a lot different now. For 9 years under bustle we had a handful of players commit early bc we were always their wait and see option. They would wait and see if anything better came along. We have I think 19 already. I'm sure HUD has his usual back pocket guys that he doesn't want anyone to know about. Also BJ had recruits on his show last night that all sound pretty excited about coming here.

You might also want to remember that this is one of the richest and deepest classes Louisiana has had in a long time. Even after "the big boys" get what they want, there will still be plenty for us to grab.

My guess is genard avery, since he had such a great showing at the all star game at DE. He tweeted yesterday saying something along the lines of thank you ragin cajuns, but i decided i wanted to play closer to home
