I was looking on Scout this morrning and I noticed that we lost a MLB (**) form Grenada HS (where did he go?) but we gained a new MLB (***) T.J. Posey. He look like a big kid with a lot of offers. Good get!

----last night in chat T talked about things getting closer to d-day and all the tricks that are starting to be played by everybody---Like last year when Neb came in on Scott at the end---grade situations---over signings---placing kids at JUCOs-----With question marks on kids you can see why the grey shirting deal is so appealing ----I really think we have some good things to sell and as I wonder about our chief recruiting rivals I can see USM talk about their return to the past---Tulane with their new stadium, academic side, and Bowl game (JOKE) ----LTUR with supposedly new facilities and a little past---and Houston with the rest----Cajuns have the BOWL (45k), 3 years at 9 and 4, HUD, Lafayette, new facilities, biggest crowds of all the non LSUs, New Conference soon, and an even brighter future with some great material coming back to keep the program going!!!
He changed his story. Spoke to him last Monday and he was coming in on the 31st. By Wednesday he was tweeting he was decommitting to stay close to home. The truth is Ole Miss came by his high school and visited with him and his coach. Ole Miss will sign 28 this year, counting back 3. They will also sign 2 grey shirts in this class. Genard will be offered a grey shirt if not a scholarship this year. He visited USM this weekend, but didn't commit. My bet is he will not commit to USM or Memphis if he gets the offer from them.
any chance of a 4 star slipping in under the radar? I know a star would disappear at signing but it would still be a great thing?
There is an evaluation system that goes with getting these stars. Every late spring/summer, there are elite camps or other such invitation or university team and position camps that the teams or individual players can attend. Some are put on by nike, rivals, etc. Some double as working coaches clinics, and others are paid university events. Went through 2 summers of this with #71 and some of the other guys on his football team. Summer between 10th and 11th grade and again between Jr. and Sr. year. All of the various recruiting web sites are there, some even sponsor the event, that's how they get the information in some cases. Coaches use it to showcase kids. Some kids have great Jr. years, show well at camp, but have a crappy Sr. year and might loose a star. The reverse is true as well. A lot of it has to do with the coaches being proactive, getting the kid attention etc. Its sort of like the way AAU Basketball has evolved.
Only 2 kids from #71 team earned stars at these camps. Neither attended college, one was as good as any 3 star back we saw during the year. The other was a 2 star OL that made all state and played 2 years at a small college. 71 didn't make the star list....but every coach in the conference told coaches he was our best OL.
The point of the article was in fact about premium athletes, the real blue chippers not begin a good year in Mississippi. Pretty much agree that you cannot tell #56 at a position from #75, but I do think in most instances you can tell the difference between #56 and #106 at a position. I know the coaches can or they would not fight so hard for those crap shoot players Gaydonmayor was talking about. I can assure you Hud knows the difference between 56 & 75, probably between 56 and 60, and is right more than not, so does his former b!@ch Berry.
Boomer ... what about LTURds recruits and stars ... let's not isolate on Tulane!
