I've always heard that if you're looking for herpes, Lubbock is where you want to be
No big deal guys, this is public info. Here's how it works, most athletes get bio's or profiles build their junior or sophomore years on Rivals, Scout or 247. It's usually done by publishers or recruiting analysis that cover a specific program or conference. So if an athlete plays both sides of the football it usually comes down to what position he is being recruited at or works out at when visiting football camps. So Ken Edwards and LaDarrius Kidd are listed as offensive linemen because they have played there and worked out at those positions for SEC programs. Both will play on the defensive line at UL. CJ Bates was an all-state safety at Louisiville HS his senior year, so he wants to return to the defensive side of the football. That is the primary position he will get a look at this spring. Malik Williams would be listed as an athlete, but Scout.com does not have that category to assign, so his primary position is listed at WR. He will get s shot on both sides of the football at UL.
With Edwards and Kidd, will they play defense because they are better suited here for that? Is it because that's where they rather play? Did that play a role in committing here? I hear it a lot at the larger programs and I'm sure it happens everywhere but I don't understand why a coaching staff would try to force a kid to play a position or a side of the ball that he doesn't want to play.
With Edwards and Kidd, they will play there because its hard for lower level programs to sign big athletes that run that well. If you are LSU, Auburn or Alabama....you sign a dozen like them on both sides of the football. Good DL are a premium at any level, but especially at mid-majors. Kidd ran a 5.0 forty at 310 pounds in camp last summer.
CajunT, Malik Williams, I am told by J-Town, that All opposing coaches, would say after playing Jennings, that Williams can play anywhere in the country, and he was the best talent/athlete on the field night after night. What say you?
What an interesting thread. Some immense stupidity from 2 or 3 posters, and then the rest seem very level-headed.
Their better posters do think that Kidd has the ability to become a good player and they were disappointed in losing him. Looks like he was their only d-line commitment out of HS. Rest that they have committed were JC guys.
Kidd is listed as a 2 star on CajunRedZone, what was he listed when committed to Texas Tech?
