16 teams and some 240+ players descended on Tuscaloosa, Ala. the weekend of March 29 for the annual USA Rugby South Championship. The event lasted two days and featured teams from four National Collegiate Athletic Association divisions.

In men's division III action, the University of Louisiana defeated Lee Univeristy and Furman University defeated Elon Univeristy.

Furman took on the Ragin' Cajuns from UL in the men's division III final.

The Purple Paladins started off with an early lead. Although the Cajuns never went away, a try from prop D.J. Addington in the final minutes of the game proved to be the deathblow to UL-Lafayette with the final score 19-12.

Furman will face the winner of the Pennsylvania-Virgina region in New Mexico.
