SULFER LA - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns softball team is heading to Sulphur, La. to take on the United States Olympic team in an exhibition game at McMurry Park. First pitch between the teams is slated for 6:00 p.m. with the gates opening at 2:00 p.m.
The meeting between the two teams will mark the second time this season that the Cajuns have met up with Team USA. Louisiana took the No. 1 team in the world to extra innings before falling 1-0 at the Judi Garman Classics in Fullerton, Calif.
The Cajuns received a stellar performance from sophomore pitcher Brittany Cuevas (Brazoria, Texas) in the first meeting between the two teams. Cuevas held the Olympic team scoreless for the first eight innings of play, before allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the ninth. She struck out four batters, while only allowing one free pass. Cuevas worked out of several jams, keeping the Team USA bats at bay.
Following the game, there will be a 10 minute cooling off period for the two teams before interviews from the media. Immediately following the interviews, the USA National Team will be available for autographs.
The game will be broadcast live on Sports Radio ESPN1420 (KPEL) in Lafayette. The broadcast is also available online at www.RaginCajuns.com. Steve Peloquin will provide play-by-play of all the action with Freddie Martin offering color commentary.
