And noticed that as the slide show progressed the field looks more and more computer generated and not like its a picture taken at the field. I dont know if any one else noticed that but it's something i did. Especially the 6th picture in the slideshow. _
I also notice that. That is why I put it individual and slide show.

What are the yellow hash marks for around the field. Are they going to stay like that?.. I think bright white goal post with a red and black pad at the bottom and maybe "UL" facing the field would look nice. It's going to look great with lights and a capacity crowd. one last thing. I really like the look of the helmets with the UL on the side and Lafayette in small letters on the bottom. I think with ragin cajuns on every helmet and with the logo It might be overkill.. jmo _
The yellow hash marks could be the zone where the media has to stay behind. It seems resonable if you look at it.

Round letters are always taller. The mistake is in aligning the base and allowing all the excess to tower over the rest of the letters.

yeah, It looks like the designers added a few "accents" on some letters..don't get me wrong... I think it looks great, however , I also think simple would have been better. oh well, different is otay!...I heard we have the largest logo in the center of the field in college football.. maybe we will start a trend

I think your efforts keeping us visually up to speed with this installation progress are outstanding. I'm beyond pleased with the results. I'm going to the DCI contest on the 16th, but I cannot wait to sit in my seats for the football home opener. There are probably going to be a lot of comments about the size, fonts, colors, logos, etc... to each their own/ can't please everyone. Overall, I'm pleased with the look of it. I am taking it for granted that the field will be wrinkle-free and perfectly functional come gametime.

Somehow... and hammer me if you feel like it... I see this new field translating into a home win that wouldn't have been. I think the team is going to play a notch better just because of the field. I think the indoor practice turf usage, and this new field, are going to play a role in improving this team's attitude... and I think it will result in better play. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!

Likewise, the only way that picture could be better is if the stands were packed and the scoreboard showed UL whoopin up on someone.

I'm waiting for them to spend the money on their new turf and them I'm going to send pictures of their illegal endzones to the Board of Regents, and the State attorney General and ride their ass until they or forced to spend the money to replace the endzones and EVERY instance where LOUISIANA appears without the word Lafayette attached to it on public property.

In 1995 for the Louisiana State Legislature passed "Act 45" requiring that at least two state universities change their name at the same time. It also required that all universities who change their name change it to “University of Louisiana at [city designation].” use the city in all official university business which includes details such as font sizes to be used by the respective universities.

This means that it their name appears on ANY publicly funded or controlled building, material, such as uniforms or stationary, as well as their score boards and the PUBLIC ADDRESS SYSTEM, than the CITY must accompany the state name.

I'm going to push this to the top. And I hope it costs them a fortune..."

If I'm not mistaken, this turf was purchased through money from a donor. I don't think the state law dictates what he can or can't have put on it if it's his money.

This is so COOL Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings

Load "Microsoft Virtual Earth". That will blow your mind. Clear shot form about 4-5 hundred feet. They have Aerial, Road and Bird's eye view. The Bird's eye view put's you in your back yard. And it's free.

Because of the cost of updating these images, they aren't done very often unless it is contracted by a private company or individual. As I remember it (from my time working at the NASA/RAC at UL), images are shot roughly every 4 years, and those (I think) are proprietary. So, it would depend on whether or not Google wants to pay for updated images for the entire country/planet. I would imagine that since Google Earth is free, they aren't very willing to spend a lot of money on costly images.

A good way to keep up with the vintage of the images around Lafayette is to look at River Ranch. Google's current images are probably about 4-6 years old, becasue many of the Apartments and homes in that area weren't built at the time they were shot, but, the City Club and some of the homes in that area, as well as the CVS on the corner of KS Rd and Camelia Blvd are built.

You could also keep decent track of it by looking at UL...Legacy Park and the Daycare on Lewis were built at the time of image capture, but the old McNaspy track was still there. also, I can see that there was no evidence of a IPF, and it also looks like the Rec Fields next to Sorority Row were in construction. And it also looks like the walkway atop the south levee of Cajun Field was built, and we still had a white wall around the field. I think that was around 2004.

I haven't looked into it before, but there is an upgrade to Google Earth Plus available, which I'm sure you have to pay for, and I would imagine that one of the perks of that would be access to the most up to date images.

I've never used MS Virtual Earth, but if it's that good, then I might have to check it out later.
