Thread: Fielding the NEW Swamp

Looks like they will be making good progress now. Nothing really standing in they way. The only thing I can say is if the field looks half way decent it will make that hideous black wall look even worse because the limestone base makes it look pretty bad. The black wall has got to go.

I am sure that they have some idea what they want to do about the wall. I know it will be painted. what color, I don't know. But I am sure they will get a lot of input from the fans. About the field looking half way decent, I can assure you that it will look "Great", wall or no wall. I just hope to see the goal post go up tomorrow......

Went to the field today. They hauled in more underlayment. Talked to a UL engineer there and he said that he thought the goal post would be in place today. Usually they put the post first that roll out the fabric next. But they may do it after the turf is down. The next step is to lay down the thin fabric than the 2" rubber fabric. Than the truf. He said that the job should be completed by July 5.....That's about right because it takes two week to roll out the liner, rubber fabric and turf and paint same....so July 5 looks right. When they start this process I will document it on film and post same.

Just got back form the field and no one working for the last two days. Like I said a few post back the only thing that would stop them form having it ready in the first two weeks of July would be the rain or the contractor on another job. I believe the latter. The weather is to good now to waste. Remember the indoor practice field. If I recall the contractor was on another job. But we will see. Might be waiting on the goal post........

im pretty sure the contractor is from up north or at least the workers are from indiana i beleive. i dont think they would be working on another job. the indoor practice facility was contracted by a local contractor.

I believe these guys work a 9 & 4 schedule as I was told by someone within the athletic department at start of project.

I would also suspect that the crew that just finished the base work is a different crew than does the installation of the turf. If the turf installation crew is not finished with another job then they won't start here until that job is finished and they get time off to be home. There is a big coordination problem when you have vagabond work crews all over the country.

I did see some activity this morning though but not much.

Looks like a little activity on the field this evening. Hard to make out though, the stars are coming out.

Camera angle has changed to the 50 yard line and I think I actually see some turf.
