I stopped by the stadium around 10:30, noticed the lights were on and made my girlfriend pull off to see if we could get a look. The gate was open so we just walked up and I must say it looks awesome! Under the lights it looks very clean and well done! Hopefully they manicure the grass on the hills because with the new turf it kind of makes that real grass look bad. I'm very very impressed. We didn't stay long, I was worried about the fuzz rolling up and giving us a hard time so we only stayed for a couple of minutes. But overall it looks great! My girlfriend said I looked like a kid at christmas. Haha

The turn-out for this 7 on 7 camp was just unreal. I would have to say, a total success. The indoor practice facility is complete and the basketball court is unbelievably nice. I spoke with a few of the bball players and they are very happy with the practice facility. The turf and football practice field were loaded with high school kids, they seemed to really enjoy being at UL. They were really taking it all in, truly this place is shaping up into something fine.

There are additional pictures posted on RaginCajuns.com that show the field just about finished. However, the outside edge of the turf up to the wall has about a 3 foot spacing that is totally unfinished. Given that this project was to be completed by July 6 and this area is untouched, does anyone know what is to be done here? What is now the projected completion date of the project? When is UL to get started on a clean-up of the stadium and hopefully a much better maintenance of the grassy upper endzone areas?

I think what you are seeing is the concrete perimeter around the edge of the turf and the wall. This is one of the things that took a fairly long time to do. It covers the perimeter french drain and acts as an anchor for the turf to stretch to. I saw it last night and they had most, if not all, of the turf trimmed to the concrete. There were scraps of turf and padding on the concrete that needed to be cleaned up. I think the scheduled completion date was July 5. They would have made it too if we would not have had so much rain the past few weeks. Even though they are not 100% complete they are having the 7 on 7 portion of the summer football camp at the stadium so they are still able to use it.

Having the turf ready for 7on7 drills is a huge win. Facilities are a huge deal in recruiting.

I'm not sure, but this could possibly be the longest thread in RaginPagin history.

Yea Z---the indoor and also the outdoor after a rain!!!!! Just think of other schools and the advantage we have with bad weather-----Hard rain --we go inside --shower ---we go outside or in but not on a sloppy field!!!!

So, now that the 7 on 7 drills are completed and this is July 10 and the job was supposed to be completed on July 6, is the turf job now completed? If not, what is the new projected completion date? Can someone post pictures of the finished product because the ones on RaginCajuns.com are up to about a week ago? When does work start on cleaning and painting the stadium and manicuring the grassy upper endzones so this will all have a finished look to it? Our first home game isn't until Sept. 20, so we have about 10 weeks to get this done right. There should be no excuses.
