Thread: Fielding the NEW Swamp

UL Football Re: Real Time Swamp Floor Happenings

Just got back form the field and no one working for the last two days. Like I said a few post back the only thing that would stop them form having it ready in the first two weeks of July would be the rain or the contractor on another job. I believe the latter. The weather is to good now to waste. Remember the indoor practice field. If I recall the contractor was on another job. But we will see. Might be waiting on the goal post........

im pretty sure the contractor is from up north or at least the workers are from indiana i beleive. i dont think they would be working on another job. the indoor practice facility was contracted by a local contractor.

I believe these guys work a 9 & 4 schedule as I was told by someone within the athletic department at start of project.

I would also suspect that the crew that just finished the base work is a different crew than does the installation of the turf. If the turf installation crew is not finished with another job then they won't start here until that job is finished and they get time off to be home. There is a big coordination problem when you have vagabond work crews all over the country.

I did see some activity this morning though but not much.

Looks like a little activity on the field this evening. Hard to make out though, the stars are coming out.

Camera angle has changed to the 50 yard line and I think I actually see some turf.

It's only refreshing every 60 seconds now, too.

I seem to recall there was something else, sort of like a pad, that was to be laid before the actual playing surface. That does not seem to be the case. What appears in the small photo looks like tha actual playing surface, cause I see what looks like yardage lines.

If you look close, it looks like the pad is under the turf.

If they do like they did here, they'll put down the pad and, gradually just unroll the turf on top of what padding they finished and let it sit. We theorized is that they wanted it unrolled so that it would be easier to lay flat later.
