This is one of many that are made. For installations like at Cajun Field, it would be a non-woven polypropylene material used to separate the drainage rock and underlaying soils.

Over time, the movement of water would cause the soil to migrate into the rock. Since the rock is used for drainage, the soil would plug the drain. The geotextile lets water through but not the soil the water is carrying (it is sometimes called "filter cloth" because of this property). Also if the soil is migrating, its leaving its original position resulting in a void, in this case under the artificial turf (not a good thing). So, the water is drained away in the rock and the soil stays in place which is exactly what you want to happen.

I'm sure you have seen the "silt fences" around construction sites. They are there to keep mud from leaving the site. Usually the silt fence is a woven (like burlap) material because it has to withstand wind and the force of any water flow against it. _
    Got it. Thanks!

I was told by Scott Farmer that it was $800,000. It would be around One Mill but he knew the contractor. All the patterns and logos, lines etc. will be painted on. The reason for the paint is in case we have a bowl game. The names of the teams would have to be in the end-zones and the logo in the middle of the field would have to be changed also.

Dont know if anyone heard the sports note yesterday but a Cajun Football Coach was talking about the summer camps and said that he was told the the field would be ready on the 7 of July. I see that they have the concrete ring poured around the field. I sure hope they put a sealer or something down on it to keep it from turning black like the stadium. Wouldnt look very nice to have a beautiful new field with a mildew ring around it.

I don't think that is a concrete ring, I think that is gravel for the drainage system. The gravel causes the water to settle without erosion. I thought the entire field will be covered in turf. Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know if that would look right to have a concrete ring. Someone, anyone?

The concrete is not poured. They don't even have the forms finish. and no one is doing and work today. I took pictures on June 2. Take a look at them. Post # 138
