What makes all of this sad is that football just won its 3rd straight bowl game, mens and womens basketball is off to their best starts in over a decade, and baseball and softball are ranked in the top 25. We should be on cloud nine with the current success of our athletic program.

And then the university pulls this stunt. Unbelievable....

After reading the article in todays DA, I have come to the conclusion that we have a "UL-Gate". It sounded like the lies of the "Fast and Furious", IRS, Bengazi (sp.) and Obama Care all rolled into one......who is lying here? All boils down to one saying this is what we are going to be called...... T-Joe.........Karl Benson and associates said, "call yourself whatever you want"......that's how I read it.....

I think the 1984 Case should be deemed a MISS TRIAL as LSUAMC@BR Alumni JUDGE never recused himself from a case that should have NEVER gone to TRIAL, as the VERY SAME way LSUNO changed its name is the VERY way USL was VOTED 17-1 in FAVOR to change USL to UL under THE LAW at that time!!!


Our State is the ONLY state in the UNION without a University of!!!! How backwards are we going to remain LSU? Are you proud to be LEGISLATED the Flagship School? UL never wanted to be the Flagship University ONLY "The University of Louisiana", THE very name Tulane gave up YEARS ago!!!

The Governor of Louisiana has a chance to make this right, but it is going to take a UNIFIED RAGIN CAJUN NATION to put up the MONEY to HIRE a WELL VERSED, HIGH POWER ATTORNEY to have this case retried and the VERDICT OVERTURNED!!!

I am willing to start having meetings to do ALL the research on the WHOLE history concerning USL or UL, the vote, the trial, and another Universities around the country that have fought these battles!!!

This is exactly how I feel.

When Authement changed to UL-Lafayette he was taking a gamble that we'd be able to get away with using UL and Louisiana. Well, it didn't work out that way. Every time we've pushed ahead on one front we were met with just as much pushback. Here we are 13 years later and we've made no progress from where we were in 2000. In fact, back then we could use Louisiana and UL even more liberally than we can today. And outside of Acadiana next to no one calls us UL. At this point anyone who thinks this can still be won, and by win I mean total victory where everyone calls us UL athletically and academically, isn't thinking straight.

Acadiana University sounds much better than Louisiana-Lafayette. It gets rid if the double-directional plague and cuts ties with ULM. We'll never be able to create a strong identity with our current name. You can't keep doing the same thing over and over and expect different results.

You sir are not a REBEL, you are an accommodator. Your consistent view is give up. What is rebellious about that?

Did I call you by the wrong name? I apologize. Let me begin by voicing my displeasure for your recent actions. I am beyond upset with your decision to give up on something, we the supporters of this sinking University, have fought for two decades. We were finally making strides towards achieving the name we have been fighting for. CBS, Fox Sports, and many other news outlets were beginning to recognize us as Louisiana. Now all hope is lost. We can continue to fight for our name, which I will do, however we now have an uphill battle. By your cowardly decision to keep the competition happy, you have thrown your own supporters under the bus. Everyone who has been fighting us on the name dispute will mock and laugh at us because YOU were a coward. I demand an explanation. If there were powers over your head to forced you to make this call, I want names. Until you retract your white flag, I will no longer financially support this University. I will go so far as to hold protests on your lawn, Martin Hall. I will voice my displeasure to all who will listen and lobby for all to remove their financial contributions. I hope you begin to realize the impact of your decision will be detrimental to the success of the University you are attempting to "lead" and nothing good will come of your milquetoast actions. You wanted peace? Now you have war. Good luck fixing the one doc, you will need it.

Do ya'll realize that T-Joe works for the UL system and can be fired for not following system policy? Do ya'll also realize that LaTech, ULM and McNeese despise UL and think that ya'll are cheating the law with this "Louisiana" bs? and that UL does not control the votes on the UL system board or the Board of Regents?

Maybe the rest of the universities in the system pressured the conference and the board to rein in UL's use of "Louisiana"? ever think that maybe more people don't want ya'll to have that name than do?

That would be typical of Louisiana politics and the backward parts of the state. The common thought would be "If we hold other people down it will make us look better". The lowest common denominator.

By the way, most state's don't have to legislate a "Flagship" university, they do it by the success of their academic programs with equal funding per student.

The goal is to solidify ourselves as THE UL, I don't really care what comes out of the mouths of purple and gold lovers. They and some others within the state will never recognize us as such. We should carry big sticks, keep them close, and kill them with kindness. Do all we can to accomplish our goals (win friends) outside of hostile territory. Certainly conference affiliation can play a huge role in helping us do this, and the SBC ain't it.

If the issue here was how an athletic conference should abbreviate its member sports teams... Why didn't we (& why don't we now) just do that? Academically we are The University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Athletically we ARE The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns!

LRC!
If they would have done this:
1) The uproar from us wouldn't have been nearly as "loud".
2) The "I told you so's" would have been fewer and farther between.
3) Fox sports, CBS and others that we're going with the flow would have continued doing so. (And if we're lucky, this may still happen.)
