2014 Branding Fiasco: UL-Lafayette or UL-L (SBC Reference Guide)

I just posted on a previous thread (that hasn't had a post for 2 days now) that we need to keep this thread alive until we get an explanation as to why we abandoned Louisiana and went to UL-L. Now that thread seems to have been deleted, at least I can no longer find it and it should be at the top with a recent post. Is this really a dead issue now? Did someone at UL request the thread deletion?

I read that Chris Williams thread the other day where T-Joe said he would comment when he had all the facts, but he never did. Even when it was proved that UL was the victim of a time thief he said nothing and made no changes. I see this current silence as more of the same.

Agreed, zero evidence that what the administration said was accurate. They did zero to advance an opportunity to play a better foe in Shreveport, ZERO. As for NOLA Bowl? They are never going to crap on us again, they see the green and had a good second and third team available, but not one would bring close to what we brought in dollars. I suspect we had a reasonable amount of time to see if Shreveport was serious. We told them to go Pizz off. That is just stupid.

Guys, this is about ending the administration's sick addiction to silence. They believe that because they have to operate in stealth mode on some things, that they have permission to operate in stealth mode on everything.

This latest issue with the name has to be explained. Even if Dr. Savoie was somehow persuaded to reposition on the name, for fear of losing something far more important, he needs to explain it.

If, for instance, as Cajun Monkee hypothesized... T-Joe was threatened with something that is more important than the name, if he continued supporting the branding name, he has no reason not to tell us. Even if he cannot get extremely specific as to who threatened him and with exactly what... he can at the very least state that funding or whatever is in jeopardy if he and/or his staff do not relent on the branding name push.

What is absolutely unacceptable is to say nothing and treat the supporters of UL with indifference. If that is how this plays out, I am not only going to sever my relationship with the university, I am going to campaign to influence 100 other people to do the same... and coach them on how to spread the message further. I never go out with a whimper... always a bang.

My preference is for them to realize that there is something quite precious in jeopardy and not to force our hand. Just the fact that many of us are discussing ways to hammer them for this... is indication enough that they are evolving into horrible leaders of their supporters. How can you allow a substantial number of support people to openly campaign to each other to stop supporting and try to punch a hole in this administration if at all possible?

Dr. Savoie, explain all of this. Explain it very soon.

T-Joe is the "antithesis" of Ray... because it was "posted on here many times"? "Campus construction" is your presentation of proof that T-Joe is the "antithesis" of Ray? Ad Hominem if I ever met him. I know of quite a few ways the two men differ... but to discredit those that find similarities in how the new UL administration operates the business of UL in similar ways to the old UL... has not been disproved by your "masters logic course".

Where is your evidence, your "logic", Boomer, of the perfectly acceptable explanation for how T-Joe is conducting this name fiasco? More cloak and dagger BS. This was a simple self inflicted wound which THIS administration has inflicted upon themselves. There is no conspiracy excpet the one everybody wants to believe to be able to live with the fact that this administration is a bunch of gutless worms who woluld rather be invited to the right parties than be seen as wave makers & upstart independents. I am amazed that after the enormous amount of evidence that is continually uncovered about this school's leadership not caring about it's own backers and the thoughts of the community at large, that so many otherwise intelligent people are willing to grasp for any other possible scenario than the one which is plainly staring them straight in the face. This administraion doesn't care & never did.

It's too much trouble for them to have to oversee a big time program, when they can run a small time program and make the same amount of cashe. Did any of you ever ask yourselves what is in it for them to build a big time program without seeing any immediate impact in their own personal pocketbook? So why push the envelope? Why make waves? It's so much easier to go along and get along. Then you get invited to all the parties around the state. You get to take all the airplane rides and stay in all the fancy hotels. And your personal political future is much brighter.

I didn't mean to imply that they would be there...other than early signees. I just meant that that particular event wasn't the place. It would look foolish and out of place.

Why so? If the king won't step out of the palace to address the peasants, then it's time for the peasants to bumrush the castle. Of course some peaseants are happy with potato soup every meal. No wonder this university was the last fricking university to be part of the original 1-A group to go to a bowl game. No wonder we set the record for the absolute worst defense in NCAA history of all time. There are still those who are satisfied with crumbs from the master's table while they are paying a king's farthing to recieve them. As one booster whose donated over ten thousand dollars the past three season to this school, I want a GOD Dammed apology. Not a bull crap lie, but a plain and simple we f---ed up. We let you down. We'd be wiling to fall on our swords, but we're afraid they won't cut.
