2014 Branding Fiasco: UL-Lafayette or UL-L (SBC Reference Guide)

very few people outside of louisiana would know of UL-L....whereas most of the nation knows of the "ragin cajuns". so everyone in the administration and most on this board are missing the boat when it comes to effective marketing. three letter statistical abbreviation should be CAJ

Why not just go with Acadiana instead of Lafayette and it would be ULA? But, UL Marketing would still have to change our primary reference from UL Acadiana to LOUISIANA. But, we will always be the University of Louisiana at Acadiana or UL Acadiana. Do we make the change ONLY for an abbreviation?

IF we are permanently stuck with this UL-L crap, I say we take a serious look at Acadiana University. No differenct than Auburn or Clemson. No confusion, no name issues, a clear identity. I, too, would prefer UL and Louisiana. But, we will never be The University of Louisiana, even when we achieve Tier 1 status. Every other university in the state will always fight us on our use of Louisiana, we are no longer recognized nationally as Louisiana, so why continue to beat our heads against the wall? We gave in to an inferior university in ULM to which our name will forever be tied to. Let's move in a different direction and create our own identity insteady of continuing with this insanity.

maybe because only about 100 people in a metro area of 200k actually care enough to spend more than a few seconds of thought on it.

most alumni have SLI or USL on thier degrees and still identify the university as such.

You worry about marketing that loss to Louisiana (and the embarrassment you called a home crowd) in the New Orleans Bowl. We'll take care of marketing UL.

Who is Jeff Horchak? Having been on all of the CSN boards, he could safely make that comment on behalf of every school and media outlet in the country. Even I am tired of it. When do we all say enough is enough and we quit chasing our own tail in a circle?

I saw a scroll a while back at the bottom that said klfy might be getting dropped from this area to please contact the provider and show support...I laughed, hopefully klfy does get dropped.
